The Bios
Barrett Goetz
Hey, Barrett here. I live in Minneapolis, MN with my wife Jalisa, son Max (6), daughter Zoey (4) and dog Lewis. By trade, I have been in the digital advertising space for the past 15 years, 8 of which have been at my current employer, Target. I’m a diehard Minnesota Vikings and Timberwolves fan. And University of Minnesota alum.
But my whole life has been about movies. When I was in 5th grade I would bring VHS tapes, like Apollo 13, to school and have my friends quiz me on the cast and crew credits at lunch (pre-IMDB). I love all genres, from 90s rom-coms to sci-fi horror, and everything in between. I love movies so much that in 2021, I began my movie tattoo sleeve journey, featuring 30 of the films that influenced me throughout my life, wrapped up and down my right arm. I have been a Christopher Nolan superfan for 20 years, so his films are well-represented on my sleeve. That, Star Wars, and Larry David.
I’ve always dreamed about having a job in the entertainment industry, but being in the midwest doesn’t yield many job opportunities in the form of entertainment content. So, I started my own thing: The Screen Mash. To share my love of film and television with the world. I brought my friend, former colleague, and fellow cinephile, Brad, on board. And we’ve been off to the races ever since.
The Screen Mash has brought me so much joy and energy that I don’t know what I would do without it. And I’ve found it to be almost like therapy; an essential mechanism in my life that I truly need to express myself.

Brad Lenz
I am a Minneapolis-based marketing professional with a background in film studies and filmmaking, and a lifelong passion for cinema. My love for movies began early, sparked by the likes of Jaws on VHS and seeing The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in theaters.
Growing up, I often went to the theater alone, immersing myself in stories on the big screen. That habit turned into a lifelong pursuit: watching, analyzing, and celebrating film and television with the same curiosity I had when I was young.
I met Barrett 10 years ago working at a marketing agency and we had an immediate kinship around movies. We would immediately find each other in the office after seeing a new movie, TV show, trailer, poster… you name it, and give our hot takes. I never imagined after both finding new chapters in our careers we would be reunited and start The Screen Mash. The rest really is history.
While I gravitate toward dramas and horror for their emotional intensity, I am mainly just an admirer of great stories. Stories make us feel deeply connected – sparking joy, fear, grief, and hope – and remind us that shared human experiences transcend time and place.
I hope The Screen Mash community can feel the passion we bring to everything we create; we’re doing this for us, we’re doing this for you, we’re doing this to be great stewards of cinema.
