Well, it’s national Batman day, so I thought it would be fun to do a ranking of all the live action Batmen. But usually people only rank Batman and don’t break out the duality of the character/performance to include Bruce Wayne separately as well.
IMO, there’s a variance in quality between the two aspects of the character. Some of the actors are strong in one area and lack in another.
For instance, people forget to give love to Val Kilmer’s awesome performance as Bruce Wayne; super underrated, IMO. And The Dark Knight changed my life and is one of my favorite movies ever, but I don’t love what Bale did with the voice in TDK and TDKR; way too growly.
This is focused on live action movies, though I definitely want to give a shout out to the great Kevin Conroy who voiced The Caped Crusader in the beloved animated series, animated movies and video games. His voice will live on forever.
Let it be known that I’m a Batman fan and especially a Batman movie fan, so I have fondness for all of these movies and portrayals in one way or another. But when you do a ranking, you gotta put a stick in the ground and say what’s what.
